This work of art is in a private collection.

I was asked to paint two paintings for a 1942 themed exhibit at the OC Great Park in Irvine, CA. It was formerly the El Toro Marine base, which opened in 1942.

The gardenia being worn in the hair was made popular by celebrities such as Billie Holiday. The charm bracelet was worn by my 16 year old mother in 1942. The magazine is an original cover from December of 1942, with titles like Blond Man Trap. The letter in the upper right corner is one that was sent to my Dad, stationed at El Toro in 1942.
